Mumal Tanwar is a theatre practitioner with a Masters in dramatic arts from University of Rajasthan. She is into writing non-fiction, translation and research & documentation of folk art as well. Shehas been an active social worker and finds theatre a powerful medium to bring about social awareness. She attended the workshop of Aspiring Women Director (2017) by NSD and did a production about the sexual desires of widows . She directed two plays “Mard ka Dard” and “Ardhnareeshwara” which oscillated around the idea of exclusion of males and transgender in our society.
In order to continue the same spirit in her field of direction, She has directed this play ‘2:27 AM,’ Produced by Jawahar Kala Kendra, which is an one act devised play. The act includes real life experiences of 5 women.
Currently she is a faculty of Performing Arts at IIS University. She is Theatre Awardee of Inlaks India foundation in 2019. She is a folk art researcher and has been intensively working on Pabuji ki phad and kuchamani khayal from last 3 years.
From last one year she has been working on community theatre so that plays can reach out to their target audience and in this series they are doing plays on terraces of mohallas.
