Rakshat Hooja is director of Universe of Learning, an experiential education focused academy working with US, European and Indian Universities. He has worked as a consultant for Unicef, International Water Management Institute and Ford Foundation.
Having studied in Delhi University, Jamia Millia Islamia and Jawaharlal Nehru University, Rakshat was, from 2005 to 20014, the Country Coordinator for the University of Minnesota India Study Abroad Program. He continues to design and implement study abroad programs for University of Wisconsin and Augustana College.
In an honorary capacity he is also the President of Lok Shabhagi Sansthan, an NGO focused on rural, and semi-urban development, and an Advisor to the Jaipur Virasat Foundation, the creator and owner of the Jaipur Literature Festival. In this capacity he is managing and curating the RRAP Rajasthan Folk Music Museum in Jaipur.
He has worked at ANI/Reuters as a reporter and has published over 150 articles in newspapers, magazines and academic Journals. Rakshat is also an associate editor of the journal Indian Book Chronicle and regularly contributes feature stories and opinion pieces to the Arbiter middle page of the Rashtradoot Newspaper.
At present he also holds the elected post of President, Mansinghites’ Alumni Association. He is the Convenor and Director of the International Rajasthan Studies Symposium, and Editor at the India of the Past memory collection project.
Currently Rakshat is the Opinion Editor at All India Professionals’ Congress and their magazine Inspire!.
He likes to identify as unemployed and hopes to write science fiction novels one day.
